Up for sale here is my Standard Vanguard
Spacemaster, 1957, and has been owned by me since 2012.
The history as related to me was that the
original owner, who lived in a tiny inland village 200km or so from the coast, bought her new in 1957. He passed away in 1972
and she had been dry-stored until my purchase.
Starts first time, and runs cool, between
50-85C, irrespective of the weather. New
radiator installed in 2018.
Engine runs well at 98,000 miles, a tiny bit
of gudgeon chuckle at start, but doesn't blow smoke, or make any sound when
warm; ticks over like a Swiss watch at idle.
Gearbox still sound, no synchromesh crunch at
any change. Clutch still sound, no slip, needs a bit of feathering to avoid
shudder.
Body, having spent most her entire life
where not a lot of rain falls, and under dry shelter, is totally rust-free. There
is a dent in the front bumper.
The paintwork will need work if you want her
to look her best.
Interior has weather well, considering. Most
of the linoleum floor has lasted, though the driver's side has deteriorated.
The front seat will need attention, the back seat is all intact. Roof lining
all intact. Original rear window louvre.
All original tools intact, jack, wheel
brace, hubcap remover, etc.
Original workshop manual and driver's
handbook.
Currently club-registered in my name at Queensland Transport
