Pontiac Catalina 1963 Super Stock tribute for sale

I bought this vehicle out of the USA with the intention of making a Super Stock tribute car out of it. The previous owner had already begun this by putting in a reconditioned 455 engine with dual quads and a TH400 transmission. I then bought the vehicle as a deceased estate car so there wasn't a great deal of information about it and I have since returned to the MoPar fold as I bought a different vehicle that I am now focusing on instead. The Pontiac has sat around for a year and I have never driven it at all mostly owing to the fact that the brake shoes now have to be removed to clear customs upon entry into Australia.I have the shoes but you'll have to get them re-bonded to drive it. This is a simple process and I'm willing to work in with the new owner to achieve this if the car needs to be moved interstate. The Body: The body is pretty straight with the exception of a couple of minor rust spots such as on a door corner and the lip of the rear gaurd. The worst spot would be where what looks to be a small amount of filler is lifting on top of the rear passenger quarter panel from some old repair (see pictures). There is a small amount of rust in the trunk floor which should be easy to patch. (see picture). The paint is the proverbial 20 footer and although it looks to have been well done is now aged. There are also a couple of marks from careless car carriers. The hood is a replacement and looks to have been a dark silver similar to Silver Mink such as was used on old Monaro's which has a dust coat of red on it. All in all it is in pretty good shape though considering it's a 57 year old vehicle. As far as I can tell. All the floors are nice and rust free. The sills are fine and the frame rails are solid. The inner guards are fine. There is no rust scabbing etc from salted roads like some older American cars have. The front end looks to be in very good order but its hard to see all the bushings etc. Some stuff looks to be not that old. The interior: The interior was redone at one time in a red kind of velour which is in okay shape but has faded in places but its good enough to get around in and but is not the original factory interior. Drivetrain: The motor as mentioned is the venerable 455. It is not a Super Stock motor - they were the 421 but good luck finding one of those nowadays. Most guys will know the following but it does bear mentioning for others. Pontiac did not manufacture a small block and big block motor like Chevrolet did. All Pontiac motors back in the day used the same sized block from the mid 50's right through to the early 80's. The engine in this car was reconditioned before I bought it. I do not know what was done to it but it is not a stock standard motor. All I know is the obvious which is that is has dual Edelbrock carbs mounted on a Edelbrock manifold. The engine starts and idles easily even after a long period. It has good oil pressure and sounds like it probably has solid lifters although I haven't pulled off a valve cover to look. It has a Hi Torque starter motor. The exhaust manifolds are stock. All in all the motor strikes me as not for the faint of heart and I think has considerable horsepower.It has a new looking aluminium radiator and an external cooler for the transmission as well. The transmission I was told is a TH 400 but I am not an expert and have not been able to confirm this. The inspection cover to the transmission is missing and the trans pan needs a new sump gasket. I have put the car into first and reverse and it goes in with a solid clunk. I have experimentally moved it a couple of meters forward and backwards but that's the extent of me ever moving it. It was a running driving car when sold to me though so I think its probably just fine. The auto is shifted on the column. The differential I don't know anything about and have not tried to ascertain if it's a limited slip or an open wheeler as I wasn't about to put the boot into it to find out with no brakes. The vehicle has power assisted drums all around and as previously mentioned the shoes have been de-bonded as per import regulations. I am willing to arrange the brakes to be re done for interstate transport at the buyers expense.I am willing to help with transport where able but without doing everything for you.
