IMPORTANT: This car is sold as NOT ROADWORTHY. It has a fault (noise) in the engine/clutch that is thought to be serious. It should not be driven away and MUST BE COLLECTED by the buyer. Absolutely NO GUARANTEES are given and the BUYER MUST UNDERSTAND that the car is not sold as reliable and may be unsafe to drive with the engine/clutch issue. Car details2005 Mitsubishi Pinin (Shogun Pinin). 1.8 MPI petrol engine, manual gearbox, Metallic grey. Full time (non-switchable) 4x4. Location for COLLECTION (only): Malvern, Worcestershire
ConditionCosmetic condition: Rough-around-the-edges. Some looseness in front bumper and paint scratches and scrapes on body and bumpers. Also has a cracked rear light lens. Does not seem to have rust issues. AC does not work - had a problem years ago (compressor?) and a mechanic changed the engine belt so it bypassed the AC. Engine was always very good and reliable in past and still runs and drives the car - but with the constant ticking. Brakes okay. Interior is muddy from dog walks and needs a good valet. Some interior parts (i.e. parcel shelf) may be missing. May well be other minor defects or missing accessories I have not mentioned - PLEASE BEAR THE STARTING PRICE IN MIND!
Mileage: Just under 67K miles
The fault/noiseThis was my mum's car and was running fine, with MOT until November this year. The fault with the car developed when she drove it through a deep pool of water a couple of months ago. Since then it has made a loud tick constantly when running. The tick speeds up or slows down with the engine revs and is there constantly, with clutch in or out. Mechanic's opinionI took the car to my mechanic and asked him to investigate as much as he could without opening up the engine and gearbox (£££). Based on listening to different points on the engine and gearbox case, his best guess was that a clutch finger might be bent and making the ticking. However, he said that he could not be sure that the noise was not a bent con-rod. We decided to sell the car on to someone who either knows how to repair it or wants it for parts. It is sold as not roadworthy because we believe the fault could be serious and could cause the engine to fail. V5c and other documentsWe have these but cannot access them quickly (my mum's house movers put them into storage). There would be some service history in the car's book, but it has probably not had loads of servicing in the last couple of years. We will order a replacement V5c to go with the car if bidding reaches £100 or more. Please ask any questions you have but note: This is absolutely collection only and driving the car away may be unsafe. Collection on a trailer is by far the best option.
