Owner description

Contact to the Seller

Here we have an all original July/87 Holden Commodore for sale that has not been tortured by anyone over time.A VL Commodore Executive sedan factory turbocharged model. These turbo models had the stronger diff, trans and suspension as you would know.
The following is in detail and best of my knowledge and yes a long story but best to tell it all upfront to save you asking questions you might be thinking of asking. Some sellers don't bother to describe their vehicle in detail, i like to tell it how it is.This car was parked next to a shed in around 96 or 97 and the battery removed, car locked up and key thrown in a tub of keys in the workshop office. There were a lot of trade ins during that period and the small dealership had no room in the yard to sell them all, so they were just 'out of sight, out of mind'That was the last time it was moved until i bought it about a year or so ago.The last owner told me he had an issue with either a crank angle sensor or fuel pump, as it stopped a couple of times and once cooled down it was ok.He took it into the Holden dealership and they tried to find the problem, but the owner just decided to trade it in and buy a new Holden, so the car was taken to a holding yard and parked against a shed and that was where it sat for aprox 23 years!I have tried to start the engine but i am under the impression the old fuel in the tank has gummed up the pump perhaps. I have put 10 litres of fresh fuel in it to see if it will dissolve any old gummy fuel?I am not up with EFI engines, carby yes EFI no. So i am not going to mess with it as i do not want to do something incorrect.I know for a fact that when the car was parked, the engine and all other things were working perfectly. It was just a glitch in something somewhere that needed fixing so it didn't stop when it was hot.I was told this by the last owner and also by the dealership mechanic i bought it from. He remembered it had a small issue when traded and were too busy to tend to it..There were over a dozen cars like this just traded in and forgotten about around the 80s and 90s , this is one of them. I saved 10 Holdens from the crusher from that yard. Next to go after this one will be a VL 5 speed manual, then a VR S pack.It has as far as i know this VL had just two owners before i bought the car.All matching numbers car.Genuine Km's shown in the photos. It was traded in to a country Holden dealer in around late 96 or early 97.The last owner, who i tracked down and spoken too, has given me the run down on this vehicle.I can only load 12 photos on ebay so if you want any more just ask.So you are thinking, how bad is this car now?Well after all that time outside it has survived pretty darn well.I am a retired panel beater and know the potential of this vehicle.I will describe the car as best i can.Firstly you will need a spare wheel section as it has rusted. The boot lid is in need of replacement, rusty. There is rust around the boot opening from condensation and leaves etc over time, but still seems to be sound and a sand blaster may be all that is needed there. The front windscreen panel under the windscreen is rusty as is most VL's.The inside of the front grille panel is rusty, either a sand blast or just replace the bolt on panel. I was a home for a rat family i think. The body itself is very sound with no rusted holes anywhere that i can see.The 4 doors all look fine.Bonnet is most likely ok with a sand blast around the inner edges. Doesn't seem to eaten out anywhere.1/4 panels look sound.Turret is not rusted.Front fenders are fine.Bumpers all seem to be fine but need painting.Rear bar top moulding needs replacing.Other bar moulds look ok.Boot floor is sound and has the mat.The only real dents i can find on the car is on the drivers rear fender where the tip of the bar moulding fits, but is very very minor and the left 1/4 has a small graze in the centre, nothing at all serious.Sill panels are solid. This car is pretty much in its original factory paint and has deteriorated over time.Car was covered in lichens but i have removed them and cleaned the car on the outside.I have put a pair of brand new tail lights on the car and there are a pair of front indicator lights that will go with the car as well. There is also a spare front seat trim that may or may not be of use?All the tyres still have air and have stayed up! but would be shagged anyway from age.It has a set of mags still on it the last owner fitted.Headlights are genuine originals and look ok to me.Has a new grille i put in, someone nicked the old one.All side door mouldings are there.Has a genuine locking fuel cap and the key is there. It had window tinting which has saved the interior a lot, but the tint is stuffed and needs removing.Interior carpets, seats console, dash are all there untouched for decades. The headlining, interior light, sunvisors, and side back window trims are as new and undamaged. The front seats are all there, drivers side has a small hole but easy fixed.Floors all seem to be very solid and not eaten out with rust.Console is spot on.Dash gauges and switches are all there, Turbo badge is still on the dash.Back seat is good but needs the top vinyl section replaced from sunburn.Door trims all seem fine.Door mirrors are all there.Wheels have lock nuts and the socket is there.Jack and brace are there. The rear panel centre plastic garnish is undamaged and i primed it when i had it off to replace the tail lights. (old tail lights were sun cooked)Radiator still has coolant and looks to be in good condition. It still rolls on all 4 wheels so an easy one to load for transport. The only things missing as far as i can tell is the boot barrel due to someone breaking into the boot and nicking the spare wheel.
Yes you will need to replace things as you go along with the resto, but you would do that with most older cars anyway.I have not had the car on a hoist to inspect the underbody, but i am sure its fine.ALL the body tags are there and genuine original as is the rest of the running gear etc.It is what it is and is one special car saved for someone to restore. It cant be all that bad in the wear and tear department due to not having been used for all this time.
!!!!!! PLEASE !!!!!!! do not bid if you are not serious, DO find out about transport cost BEFORE bidding, i do not want to have the run around AGAIN, i have been down that road before and it's not the way i expect people to treat me.The car is here for all to see and decide upon so do the right thing by me and only bid if you are genuinely interested in purchasing.I do not want to go through a relist and extra ebay fees for nothing. This will be a pick up from our home upon agreed arrangement and CASH ONLY on pick up.I am at [hidden information] for any enquiries if need be.Car is located in rural SA just north of Gawler.A part of Australian motoring history so if you want a vehicle that will only gain in value, here it is.No reserve, and this car is worth every bit of the starting price, if not more, to the right person.Any thing you want to know just ask me.Don't miss out on this vehicle.
On 05-Apr-21 at 15:58:12 AEST, seller added the following information:There is also a plate above the larger id plates painted white which reads.8VL8VK19-A8R meaning as far as i know, a GMH Aust Ltd car, VL model, Sedan, Executive 6 cylinder Turbo.MS1 is 4 speed turbo auto trans especially for turbo models.GM3 is 3.45 diff for this modelLW5 is turbocharged 6 cylinder EFI
On 06-Apr-21 at 08:47:23 AEST, seller added the following information:I mentioned a painted plate above the body tags in an addition yesterday. I am amending that as i put in the wrong info for that plate. That plate reads Holden's Motor Company 8K198G (looks like a G) then it has L[hidden information] space, then another LThe Aust design rules plate has all the design rules numbers and also has Holden VL Sedan, 07/87 AVL [hidden information]AGross vehicle mass section is blank and seating capacity is 5.I couldn't find any numbers on the passenger suspension strut tower top. Some VL's had numbers there for odd reasons.I can supply photos of these plates.
