Defects: sunroof doesn't open all the way minor scratches on the interior (seatbelt buckle hitting the door and such) small amount of surface rust at VW logo on the hatch (you could probably warranty it)
Recent Work: remount/balance etc on TDI rims injectors, intake cleaning, fuel filter oil changes every 10K springs and shocks.
Notes: this car is in great shape, I bought it at 133,000 miles and much of it seemed like it was brand new. It felt newer than the 50K mile TDI I'd just turned into VW. I've taken great care of it, done all the oil changes myself. Also ran oil analysis at 143,000 miles and it came back in great shape ("This engine is wearing better than most stock ones we see, and that's a good sign internal parts are getting along well"). I own and maintain a fleet of diesels so running the oil seemed natural to me (and to verify that the 10K mile maintenance that Volkswagen recommends is good enough). Car pulls strong, is fun to drive. I was going to keep it forever and go high mileage with it, but I bought an electric car in November and only drive this once a week now. I can share the spreadsheet of maintenance with you if you'd like.
