Up for auction is our 2008 Volkswagen EOS Komfort Convertible, affectionately referred to as our COVID combat vehicle. We picked this up in the Spring after realizing that we were going to be spending a lot of time looking for new places to swim and picnic during the lockdown. I sold my Audi TT so we could all enjoy some top down fun this Summer and this really did the trick. I ended up using the car to travel across the state numerous times a week for work once the lockdown subsided and it's been nothing short of spectacular. The only reason for selling is so that we can pick up an AWD Audi convertible that my wife has taken a liking to. When I picked up the car the top wasn't in working order and my hobby is working on German cars, so I hooked the car up to VAG COM and found that the convertible top hydraulic motor had a short. I picked up a low mileage motor from Ebay and installed it, after which I did a complete hydraulic fluid service and ran diagnostics. The top has worked flawlessly all Summer and never ceases to amaze people whenever we stop for ice cream. The EOS is unique in that half the top will slide back, almost like a panoramic moonroof and when you decide you want to experience some top down fun you just push down the convertible handle in the center console and the whole operation commences. It takes approximately 20 seconds to put the top down in my estimation. I replaced the front brake pads and rotors with Raybestos heavy duty components since I knew I'd be traveling across PA to Pittsburgh for work on a frequent basis. I replaced the rear pads as well, but the rear rotors were in good shape. I serviced the climate control system and replaced the high pressure side switch in the process. The dual climate control works perfectly and blows ice cold. A check of the timing components revealed that the previous owner had changed the timing belt and components recently, by his memory it was at approximately 115K miles. I did a timing check and replaced the spark plugs and then the coolant with Pentiosin after flushing the cooling system. I run the car pretty hard across 22 on my work trips and the temp never gets beyond halfway. Oil and filter were changed 250 miles ago with Rotella synthetic and a FRAM filter. The battery was showing signs of age, so I replaced it with a unit from Advance Auto. The tires were replaced with Goodyear Assurance All season units approximately 1000 miles ago and they're a fantastic upgrade from the Coopers that were installed. The 2.0 is quite an upgrade from the 1.8T's that I'm used to driving and working on from previous generations. The intake and fuel delivery system is vastly different and uses a direct injectors to improve fuel delivery. I average around 25 mpg driving at a pretty stout speed, but have gotten as much as 27 mpg when I'm careful. I completed a full VAG COM diagnostic on all major systems and everything is clean with no check engine codes displayed. The DSG transmission shifts well and I actually use the tiptronic function in the manual mode when I'm looking to have a little fun. The windshield developed a pretty substantial crack, so I ordered a new unit from Safelite and had it installed. As far as appearance goes, the car presents well and I always get compliments, but it shows wear and has numerous dings in the doors and along both rear quarters and in the front and rear bumpers. The black paint is super bright, so it's hard to see the dings unless you get a look at the right angle. The front seat bottoms are worn and could use a cover, but I never got around to adding one. Everything works as it should and the Komfort models are loaded with the dual climate control, keyless entry, backup alarm, navigation head unit with auxiliary input for pandora or spotify. The glove box is even cooled so you can put a drink in it to cool it off if you're desperate. There's a CD changer in the center console, but I've never used it. The whole top collapses into the trunk, but there's a divider inside that gives you plenty or room for suitcases or groceries. We've loved her and she's been good to us. I think it would be an awesome car for a college student or a second family car. Comes with full manual and both keys. If you have any questions, drop me a line. NO RESERVE, SO GET AT ER!
