“This is an auction for a 2008 Chevrolet Express Van. You can either put a bit of work into it to get it on the road, or you can use it for parts. I am the second owner of this vehicle, it lived garaged in Ottawa until 2016.”
This is an auction for a 2008 Chevrolet Express Van. 1500 LS. 5.3L VORTEC V8. Blue. NO RESERVE AUCTION LOW STARTING BID You can either put a bit of work into it to get it on the road, or you can use it for parts. Personally, I am still driving it. Hey, a new one with these options would be $50,000.00, that's not for me. This is a passenger van, but I took the seats and rear plastic decorative panels out for more room as a cargo van. It is a 2 passenger or 5 passenger vehicle, it comes with the second row seats and rear seatbelts if you want them. There is no warranty on this vehicle, it is being sold as is. I took it for a 120 km drive yesterday, and have driven it 50km plus so far today, and it ran just fine. I am still using it every day, so the KM may vary, right now it has about 156,000km (or 97,000 miles), which is very low. Original engine and transmission, I've never messed with either, and I have maintained the fluids etc. well. Here's the good news and the bad news: THE BAD NEWS: 1) There is a dent in the right rear door, that keeps it from closing, I have been tying it closed with a string. Maybe you should replace the door with one from the wreckers. Or keep tying it with a string like I do. See the pictures. There are also dents on the roof from me standing on it to put ladders on it. Its a 12 year old work van, there are of course going to be some imperfections both visual and mechanical. 2) The paintjob in general is poor, it has loads of minor scratches, blemishes, paint marks, etc. Again, see the pictures. This will never be a beauty queen, its just a work van. 3) The rear turn signals don't work as they should, I think there is a pinched wire. They are dim etc., and the plastic center brake light housing is gone. This is not my forte to fix it. 4) It is generally dirty and dusty. It could use a wash inside and out, I am a painting contractor and have been using it for work every day since I bought it. I will leave it to you to tidy it up to your taste if you want to. 5) Like all vehicles of this type, the driver seat has a tear on the left side from entering. THE GOOD NEWS: I can tell you, from my experience, all of the following seem to be working great: 1) The engine and automatic transmission run like new. Lots of power, once its yours, you can spin the tires if you are into that. Shifts drives, and cruises smoothly. 2) All of the glass is good, no cracks. Power windows go up and down 3) The horn works 4) The heat, A/C, radio, CD, wipers, clock, etc. work normally 5) The seatbelts and airbags work 6) Lots of room inside, and a comfortable vehicle to drive 7) Again, its a 2 seater upfront, with another optional bench seat if you want for free, that has all 3 functioning seatbelts. 8) Comes with a heavy duty hitch, for 5000 pounds, I have used it exclusively for my bicycle rack, but you can basically tow any trailer or a decent size boat with this 9) The undercarriage rust is minor, and controlled... some of these vans are awful, this one has only minor rust. 10) Very dark privacy window tint all around, the windows make backing up very easy 11) The mirrors are all good 12) Importantly, the wheels are nicer ones I took off of my suburban, and the tires are brand new. I have not even put 5000km on those tires, they will last for years. Loads of tread left on these ... Bidgestone Transforce AT2, these 4 tires cost me $1200 recently 13) Brake pads, rotors, calipers all function normally 14) Steers / handles very well, a baby could drive this thing 15) Fuel economy is like new... about 15L per 100km cruising on the highway, varies in the city depending on traffic of course.
Really, it's none of my business what you plan to do with it, you can get it on the road, sleep in it, use it as a travel camper, or pull of the engine and transmission to put into your own vehicle..... whatever you want. I am trying to keep the starting price low to make it affordable. The vehicle is located in Toronto, once it is paid for, I can drive it to or towards you, up to 30 km. After that, its up to you. As mentioned in the payment instructions, I will repeat: 500 dollar non-refundable PayPal deposit is due within 24 hours of winning the auction. The rest of the payment is due via PayPal or cash, before the vehicle will be released, Vehicle comes with 2 keys, spare tire (installed under the truck as usual) and ownership. It does not come with a jack, vehicle history report, or owners manual. I am not a car dealer, I am just a guy selling a vehicle as-is.
