While Jeep produced its highly successful “ZJ” Grand Cherokee from 1993 through 1998, the company offered the 5.9L Limited such as the on featured here for the last year of production only to keep sales strong before its replacement entered production.  Having more luxury and performance than that of the regular Limited, nearly fifteen thousand of the approximately one quarter million Grand Cherokees produced that year ended up being 5.9 Limited models.  In addition to the luxury features, Jeep stuffed Chrysler’s 245 horsepower 5.9 Liter Magnum V8 of the time under the hood.  With 345 pound-feet of torque on hand,  Grand Cherokee 5.9’s were capable of 0-60 mile per hour times of about seven seconds which put it on par with some sports car of the day.  Credited as the first high performance SUV ever offered, Chrysler advertised the model as “The Fastest SUV In The World” and it was named the 1998 four-wheel drive vehicle of the year by Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine.The 5.9 Jeep Grand Cherokee included a number of improvements over the top of the line “limited” Grand Cherokee, that were unique to the 5.9. This included, in addition to the premium motor, all the options found on the limited edition, in addition to:A higher output alternatorRevised low profile roof racks (used on the next generation)Unique wood grain accentsFull calf nap leather interiorChrome tipped exhaustUnique front grilleUnique side rocker panelsFully functional heat extractor hood louversRear leather armrestHigher output Infinity Gold premium stereo system Leather wrapped shift and e-brake handlesUnique leather door inserts, armrests and console lid.Unique chrome five star wheelsElectric cooling fan in lieu of a mechanical clutch fan used with the 5.2“ZJ” Grand Cherokees are very capable off-roaders and the addition of the 5.9L Magnum V8 provides much more power than the typical 4.0L inline six to get you out of trouble.  “1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9L V8 4x4 --78K ORIGINAL MILES!!!  ONLY ONE-YEAR IN PRODUCTION.Read what Doug DeMuro has to say about it:
https://www.autotrader.com/car-news/jeep-grand-cherokee-59-limited-forgotten-hot-rod-grand-cherokee-[hidden information]The GOOD:-STRONG motor-Runs and drives well, recent service, properly maintained vehicle-Smooth idle, no motor issues at all-Incredibly powerful pull at any speed, and great for towing-No Check Engine lights-Leather interior in very good shape-AC Blows Cold-Working sunroof that doesn’t leak-Tires are Goodyear Assurance with at least 60% tread-Full-size spare wheel and tire -Fully-functional sliding moonroof-All power options (windows/mirrors/locks/remote) fully operational-Front-grill brush-guard and tubular side running-boards-2 Inch trailer-hitch receiver with dual plugs-Paint is in incredibly great shape overall...waxed regularly and no hazing or pitting-Zero rust on exterior of vehicle and virtually none on underside (other than hot exhaust components which is natural)The BAD:-Side scratches on passenger-side wheel flare (not overly noticeable)-Original owner tried repainting the driver side mirror and did a horrible job of it (see pics)-Side steps have cracked plastic in places -Minor scratches, small dents, chips in various spots but not overly noticeable (see pics)-Front steering column is a little loose in slow, tight turns but had this checked by service tech and he said this is normal in older Jeeps and isn't something requiring replacing.  CV Boots look good.-Lower Center console works but they are notorious for flashing and resetting the time and date so we just ignore it.  Many Jeep forums suggest just taking it out and replacing with cup holders or other things.-Heated seats don’t work well...again, very normal for these, but making the buyer aware.-Heater core will need to be replaced soon...struggles to put out heat. This is sure to be a long-term classic and will only go up in value over time.  Buyer to arrange and pay for shipping, $500 deposit due within 24 hours of auction-end and FULL remaining payment/balance is due via cash, certified cashiers check (bank verified prior to title and vehicle transfer)  or bank wire transfer within 3 days of auction-end.Buy with confidence.  Clean title in hand.  I've been an eBay seller since 2005 with 100% positive feedback.  Vehicle is located in Star, Idaho (Boise Metro) and is being listed locally and I reserve the right to cancel the auction if there are no bids.  Good luck bidding!
