If you have been searching for a square body Suburban, look no further. This is a rare find; it is nearly impossible to find a complete Suburban of this vintage that is not rusted out or hacked up, let alone with a factory original 6.2L Diesel engine. This 1987 Suburban was found in Washington State after a long search and transported across country here for updating. It has just been completely repainted; door glass, handles, mirrors etc were all removed and replaced as needed. As far as I can tell, all of the sheet metal is all original GM. A brand new 2” steel functional cowl hood was painted to match and the factory 6.2 Litre Diesel hood ornament transplanted. The 6.2 Diesel emblem on the tailgate is BRAND NEW OLD STOCK; a nearly impossible and very expensive find. The rear Suburban emblem will also be replaced with a Brand New Old Stock emblem on hand. Carpets were deep cleaned and are covered with original GM floor mats front and rear. All fluids drained and filled with correct GM recommended fluids. Cooling system flushed. Oil sample was sent to Blackstone Laboratory for analysis with excellent results. No issues found. The complete report will be provided to the new owner. AC system was completely gone through, front and rear, and whatever was needed replaced. It got a new rear blower motor and housing, front condenser and evaporator. Blows very cold. Brand new brakes to include rotors, drums, pads and shoes along with hardware. Brand new springs front and rear allow it to sit 2” higher to clear the 33” Falken tires wrapped around American Racing aluminum wheels and have plenty of tread life. Also included are a set of winter tires and wheels. These are the factory rally wheels and have brand new GM original metal caps; not the cheap plastic after market caps. These were very expensive. One trim ring is missing. The wheels were refinished and brand new BF Goodrich KO2 tires mounted and balanced; they have less than 1000 miles on them. Six brand new shocks were installed and both axles drained/filled; the 3:73 gears were cleaned and the covers cleaned and painted. The bolts were replaced with stainless steel. Front axle was gone through and got new bearings and seals and the automatic hubs dissembled, greased and reassembled. They lock/unlock perfectly. The diesel engine runs strong and starts the first time, every time. Brand new fuel filter installed. The TH700R4 transmission shifts as it should as does the transfer case. The underside is amazingly clean and well preserved. Frame is excellent and has zero rust. Both mufflers on the true dual exhaust are brand new and have a very throaty sound, as they should. Interior is excellent for it's year and the front captains chairs have flip up armrests. Second and third row fold and the third is easily removable for bigger loads. Fuel tank is a monster 40 gallons and I get 21 mpg on the highway so you can run all day. Now on to the cool stuff. I spent over a year searching for a period-correct original Warn winch bumper and winch. I finally hit the jackpot and travelled all day to pick this one up and paid a small fortune for it. We refinished it and mounted the 8000 lb winch. The winch got a new controller and plug assembly, works flawlessly and is very fast. The previous owner stated it was only used twice and still has the original cable. It was kept in his garage loft for 25 years. From the looks of it, I believe him. I added a brand new roller fairlead, hook, Warn strap and flip-up license plate bracket. Original Warn factory cover is included. Warn still sells an updated version of this winch today for nearly $3000.00. I then moved on to the lights and replaced everything with LED. This includes the interior dome lamps and dash lights from Superbrightleds.com, Head lights, tail lights and side markers are the Sylvania ZEVO. Flasher unit was replaced with an LED version. HUGE difference and is much easier on the electrical system. Truck has good dual batteries. Brand new tinted windshield with antenna installed last week. Truck is 33 years old, so please don't expect it to be perfect and is sold as-is, where is. I am in Rockville, Maryland; about 30 minutes north of Washington DC and about an hour south of Baltimore. I won't ship, but will work with your shipper as best I can. Feel free to fly in and drive it home. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this anywhere. Detailed pics are available and the truck is available for inspection. I have a walk around video, that wouldn't load, available where you can see everything and hear the diesel run. The only reason this is even for sale is this truck started out as a project to work on with my son for his first vehicle and I bought it without his mothers knowledge. The project took on a life of it's own and then she realized it doesn't have air bags, so it's got to go in favor of a newer vehicle. Needs some minor pieces and one seatbelt doesn't retract, but I have a complete set of replacement seatbelts that go with it. The front drivers side inner fender well has a rust spot that the body shop forgot to replace while it was there. I planned on doing it in the spring. It is a bolt-on part. I have some spare parts that will go with the truck. Cruise control works intermittently. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Don't hesitate to ask me any questions. Odometer currently reads under 9K miles, but true mileage is unknown.
