We all know these cars are getting so much harder to find and
these projects are well worth the time and effort.. its 2021
folks. I remember seeing these cars driving the streets of Tucson
often, but when I think about it, its been many yrs since those days.
Restore and build it anyway you want.
We suggest viewing our auction on normal large monitors
and or tablet to get the most out of our large easy to view pics.
Desert Survivor being sold by a very legit Ebay seller
If you have any concerns about our vehicle, please ask or dont
bid on it.
FEEDBACK !!! if you cant take 10 min to read thru our feedback
on the cars we have sold here over the last 10 yrs, then you also
shouldnt be bidding on our auctions. Ebay offers our Feedback rating
for a reason.
Here are 2 short video links SHORT VIDEOS - 1 with it running off of some
starting fluid for a few seconds.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydpjOsvg-B4
The other is a walk around showing the car as much as possible and checking
it out that way. Both videos were just taken a few days ago.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
This Fiat has was parked under a carport here in Tucson over 15 yrs ago.
Its been in Az for as long as we can track, which is one of the biggest reasons
its as rot free as it is. Not totally rot free, but its been in a dry arid climate for
pretty much its whole life and never seen snow or salt roads.
X1/9s are some great sports cars and a blast to drive and fun to restore. This one
is still wearing most of its original orange paint, but there is evidence of some mild
bondo near the front of the bonnet. (see pics below) The car comes with the original
keys and clean Az title. We drained the gas tank, which was almost empty already then
installed a few fuel filter, electric fuel pump too and blew out the fuel lines with air. The starter
was frozen up too, so we replaced it. We then dropped in a good battery and hit the key.
It cranks fine, but wouldnt catch. Then we tried starting it with starting fluid and voila, it
came to life ! (see video) We did this about 5 times in a row, hoping it would start running
on its own, but still wont. While running off the starting fluid spray, the motor actually sounded
fine, no weird noises and no smoke. My guess maybe the injectors are dirty or possibly not
firing off. Knowing the motor is okay, we stopped from there. The car also comes with a brand
new clutch slave cylinder too (not yet installed). These 83s had the 1.5L EFI motors, with of
course the 5 spd stick, and this particular car has PW and AC.

Up for Auction: I wont end it early, sorry.
DRIVETRAIN: under the rear bonnet, is the factory
1.5 motor with fuel injection. Another nice feature is the
AC from the factory. Looks to be all complete too. A new clutch slave cylinder comes with the car too (not yet installed) The car rolls and steers just fine and pretty sure the brakes are working. As mentioned above, with the new parts installed
it cranks fine with the key, but still only runs off starting fluid.
Lots of positive things still goin on for this icon.
No battery will come with the car (as seen in pics)
INTERIOR: take a look at pics, they tell most of its story.
As has been hard on the interior, and its very dry and a
little crispy. Needs restoration here as well. It looks very
complete at least. If I recall, the dash is not cracked at least
which is rare for an Az car this old. Interior lights do work
and think the radio does too still. Lots of potential for sure.
Also mostly all stock, original and un-molested. Glass all
looks to be in good shape and it has factory PW !! Instrument
cluster not in bad shape as are most of the gauges, but
the needles look like the Az heat got to them.
The front trunk, looks to be very solid. Some surface rust
mostly but very clean in and under it, also around the
front lower cowl, not bad.
The Rear trunk is really the only place we found rot. Once
we lifted up the floor panel and took out the factory fiberglass
insulation we found rust on the floor panel just above the
exhaust. Its alot, but all fixable and mostly isolated to the one flat panel hidden below the trunk panel cover. See pics, we have plenty !EXTERIOR:you are seeing what I believe is a nice patina
of what I believe is most of the original paint. Hood has been
repainted with some work done to it many many yrs ago.
Nothing to bad. Rest of he outter body is in amazing shape.
Couldnt see any rot on the rockers or door bottoms. Kinda
rare to find these cars so solid, at this age. Its un-restored
but nothing to hide either. Headlights pop up as suppose to
and all the lights look to be working well too.SUSPENSION:the suspension looks pretty much like the way
it came from the factory and complete. Factory alloywheels. Also the lack of rust and rot, taking this thing apart
would be a cinch :) Ive not used that word in yrs, but it works very well in this instance. Tires are rollers at best, and one
seems to have a small leak and will go flat after a few days.
Check out ALL 100+ the pics below ----->it may take a full minute for them all to load ifyou have a slow connection, so be patient AND looks for the extra scrollbar on the right side.
Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain and Az very dry climate. more infoAFTER the pics etc. There are 100 large pics.
Probably The BEST represented Fiats on Ebay.
Shows you all the good as well as any bad.
We put a lot of time and effort in marketing our cars.People wait months for a car this solid to come up for sale. IT ONLY MAKES SENSE TO PAY A LITTLE MORE NOW ON SHIPPING so your NOT PAYING MUCH MORE IN RUST REPAIRS ON A Rust Bucket. This is whats called smart economics.
Also, if you buy a car thats been "restored", who knows what surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating. People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs are fast, for a quick buck and quality suffers.
Email us with ANY questions before you bid please
Our Impeccable FEEDBACK speaks for itself. We show you asmuch feasibly possible via pics.
Dont let auctions withlittle to no pics fool you.
If they cant take pics of areas under the car they are
selling, maybe its not the best car to buy long distance, and you really dont know what to expect
until you take the car apart. While we go over our carswith great pics to help making your decision easier.Along with ANY other questions you may have.
Email me for a quote for shipping.
