By 1969 Plymouth stylists had to come up with something big , bald and innovative for the third generation of the Barracuda ,by the stroke a pencil on the drawing board the redesigned Barracuda for 1970 would turn out to be one of the most beautiful muscle cars ever built, spy photos of the 1970 Cuda somehow managed to get into the automotive publications. It was all excitement , Plymouth created the " Rapid Transit System" and pick up the slang name "Cuda" among Woodward Avenue cruisiers and others around the country to proudly announce the "Cuda,the R.T.S ultimate Barracuda" . A high performance version was created , the name suited the new crisp, clean and smooth perfect balanced look,the Cuda distinguished from the standard Barracuda in many ways , hood scoops,hood pins, driving lights below the frontbumper ,body side stripes , the sole identification on the car was the word "Cuda"on the flat black rear panel and along with the engine displacement on the hood. The 440ci . the highest displacement engine from Mopar at the time was a perfect pick for development on the high performance lineup, the high durability allow coverage by 5 years or 50000 miles warranty and a forged steel crankshaft, forged connecting rods, a ported cylinder heads, a hot camshaft and other developments would result on a 375HP with 480 foot.pound Torque at 3200rpm for the 4 barrel AFB Carter carburetor just 10 pounds shy of of the "Six Pack" version.
ABOUT THIS CAR : Built at the end of 1969, according to the broadcast sheet scheduled date of production, this Cuda 440ci "Slap Stick" Torqueflite FY1 "Lemon Twist" was choose on the manufacturing line to be unique having been equipped with almost every optional available including factory A/C . front bucket leather seats,roof console,power windows , Am/FM 8 track player and more, ( please see the fender tag option list below). This is a restored all factory original matching numbers example , almost everything is still like it came out from the production line , repainted once this Cuda has a very straight body with nice gaps between panels , with only two previous owners this Cuda is a product of almost 20 years under my ownership with a continuously mechanical and body appearance maintenance , most importantly it has been driven regularly with a impressive reliability .
