very solid original car has been selectively restored. Purchased from
a collectors estate in original finish, the current owner chose to do
a comprehensive chassis restoration so the car could be enjoyed
trouble free. The exterior finish and chrome trim are original. The Studebaker Avanti Coupe, masterpiece of Raymond Lowey Studios, is considered one of America's most significant automobiles. Andy Granatelli set 29 speed records at Bonneville in 1963, with speeds exceeding 168 MPH in a twin blown Avanti. This made the Avanti the fastest production car in the world that year. Among the famous owners of these cars is Ian Flemming (creator of James Bond) and singer/songwriter/actor Ricky Nelson. The original and unique round headlight design was a feature of only the 1963 first year models. All subsequent production had square headlights. Only 3834 of the iconic original design were produced. This is a car every bit as important as the 810/812 Cord.
