2002 VW Golf Mk4 1.9 GTI TDI
I have owned this car for about two and half years and love it. Unfortunately it needs fair amount of work done and as now have baby and therefore no free time, have decided the best option for me is to sell it. It needs some work done to get it through MOT just don't have the time to do the work and paying someone else is too expensive for me. Hopefully this would make nice project for someone.
The car has heated front seats, cruise control, air-con and climate control, 6-CD changer, centre arm rest, heated wing mirrors, front fog lights and all-round electric windows. It also had the camshaft replaced about two years ago it is common for the camshaft to wear on these engines. The timing belt and water pump etc. were also done at the same time. It has also just had new windscreen.
On the down-side, the handbrake is not holding on the offside (possible caliper?), the offside rear suspension mounting outer sill is corroded and needs welding and it needs new CV joint gaiter. These were all MOT failures. All four brake discs were mentioned as MOT advisories, my mechanic said the front brakes at least need doing ASAP. It also needs new front nearside tyre.
Other than that, there is list of non-MOT issues both front wings are quite rusty and could do with being replaced, there is small oil leak (possibly injection pump?), the aerial is missing and the door locks need cleaning (the sensors do not always sense when the doors are open etc. Common problem on these Golfs). The interior needs some work the centre arm rest clip is broken (I think have replacement somewhere) and there are some bits of trim missing which have in my garage (basically did not like the wood interior so changed it for the net optic but never got round to finishing the job!).
I hope have thought of everything there may be some other minor bits that have slipped my mind. do also have the full-height FIS Bora sport clocks somewhere in my garage which intended to fit but never got round to it either! will probably list them separately when can find them but let me know if you're interested.
Overall the basics of very good car, probably future classic, just needs fair amount of time and bit of money spent on it. really hope it can go to another Golf lover!
Please ask if you have any questions or would like to come and have look.
