Spring project/fix-up for a mechanic or car enthusiast! I’m selling my 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 3DR hatchback. Clean title, no accidents, all the scheduled maintenance. I live in NYC, and the car has been garaged in VA. I can say that, to the best of my knowledge, there are no major mechanical issues with the car. It’s been sitting awhile, however, and needs a lot of cosmetic and small-scale work - the ideal buyer is someone who’s really into fixing up cars and sees its potential. Sporty handling and performance once it’s back up and running. There aren’t many ’98 Eclipses left on the road, and this is a fun vehicle to fix up. The good:Clean title, no accidentsOnly two owners111,329 milesGently used engine - it was rebuilt before I bought it (at 38,000 miles); timing belt and head gaskets replaced (at 69,000 miles); full service records since acquisition Riken Raptor sport tires Custom-installed Sony CD playerPower sunroofPower steering, windows, door locksDual air bagsCruise controlHatchback with fold-down rear seat The issues:While there are no major engine repairs that I know of, count on replacing hoses, brake pads, spark plugs, and all the other things that don’t fare well with age. The battery is dead. The car ran fine and was regularly started by my pops before the battery died. I remember the spark plugs occasionally tripped the check engine light over the years, but besides that, there were never any mechanical issues with the car.Cracked windshield needs to be replacedFront right headlight needs to be replaced and a smallish dent knocked out of the surrounding area. The fender area plastic is also cracked (common on these models) and there is a small dent over the wheelbase on the driver’s side.Plan on buffing and repainting: sun damage on spoiler and key marks on driver’s side doorThe plastic part that encases the driver’s side window controls needs to be securedNo radio antenna Pneumatic catch release on the hatchback seems to be out - it opens and closes OK, just won’t stay open unassistedAC needs a tune-upThere are two small holes in the backseat cloth interior Please be advised that the vehicle is not currently registered and has a dead battery, so it is not driveable as is. Must be towed. Please do not bid if you don’t understand this is a fix-up car that must be towed. PayPal/Venmo or cash only. The above description represents the extent of my knowledge of the vehicle; it does not express or imply a warranty of any kind. Sold as-is, no returns. Local buyers only. Contact me with any questions you may have, and I’ll do my best to answer them. Thank you for your interest in Phoebes! I am quite attached to her, and I can’t wait to find the right person who will give her a new lease on life :) On Jun-11-18 at 11:54:30 PDT, seller added the following information:Zero-feedback bidders must message me immediately or bid will be deleted.
